In spite of good home care, teeth may become discoloured. For example, coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco easily cause darkening of fillings and teeth.
There are several possibilities for cleaning discoloured teeth. Teeth may be lightened by removing tartar and plaque or by cleansing with paste alone. More persistent stains need to be treated with soda cleaning.
Old discoloured fillings can easily be replaced with modern tooth-coloured materials. A darkened or worn crown can be covered with a porcelain casing. If you want a lighter shade in an entire row of teeth, the teeth can be bleached. Bleaching can first be done at the clinic, and then you can easily renew it at home, using personal bleaching moulds made according to your teeth. It is also possible to bleach a single discoloured tooth.
